Bread and Salt–breaking bread & communal baking

Bread and Salt is a series of two performances centered around communal bread baking as a collective experience. The project focuses on an earth oven — a place of warmth, scent, memory, and dialogue.
Across the two events, we lit the first fire in the earth oven and continued working with fire and the bread-baking process, initiating a ritual of transformation and celebration.
The act of baking bread and sharing it is one of the oldest gestures of care for one another, as well as a subtle form of resistance to capitalist food systems.
We gathered around the fire, working with sourdough, observing the baking process, tasting, and sharing the meal together. The focus was on the collective experience of this ancient practice.
